We have re-engineered the tooth geometry to overcome certain 3D printing limitations. This improvement ensures a smoother mesh with the worm gear, leading to better running and improved reliability.
Precision Reverse Engineering:
These parts have been reverse-engineered from discontinued Bachmann originals and are resin 3D printed in the UK. Each set includes:

Fitting Requirements:
To correctly assemble these gears, you will need:
A wheel back-to-back gauge to ensure proper wheel spacing.
Knowledge of wheel quartering, which is essential for correct piston and connecting rod operation.
If you’re unfamiliar with these techniques or lack the required tools, we strongly recommend seeking assistance from a competent person.

These gears were used in various Bachmann split chassis steam locomotives, including:
V1, A4, and 43xx Mogul
Plus, several others not listed
To confirm compatibility, check your locomotive’s final drive gear:
If your centre axle pin is square and your final drive gear is 14.7mm in diameter with 28 teeth, this set will fit.
Some smaller locomotives have a different-sized final drive gear, which this set will not fit.
If your final drive gear is smaller, please contact us—we have made custom replacements for various models and can reverse-engineer any gear/axle with an original sample.
